Calcium propionate powder
Product Description:
Calcium propionate is a safe and reliable food and feed mildew inhibitor approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). Calcium propionate, like other fats, can be absorbed by humans and animals through metabolism, and supplies necessary calcium for humans and animals. This advantage is unmatched by other antifungal agents and is considered GRAS.
Product introduction
Calcium propionate is an acid-type food preservative. Under acidic conditions, free propionic acid is produced and has antibacterial effect. Its antibacterial effect was affected by the pH value of the environment, and the inhibitory effect on mold was the best when the pH value was 5.0; the antibacterial ability was significantly reduced when the pH value was 6.0, and the minimum inhibitory concentration was 0.01%. It has a strong inhibitory effect on various molds, Gram-negative bacilli or aerobic bacillus in acidic media (starch, protein and oil-containing substances), and can also inhibit the production of aflatoxin, but has no effect on yeast. Harmful, harmless to humans and animals, no toxic side effects. It is a new, safe and efficient antifungal agent for food and feed in food, brewing, feed and traditional Chinese medicine preparations.
Product properties
Molecular mass 186.22, white light scaly crystals, or white granules or powder. Slightly special smell, easy to deliquescence in humid air. The monohydrate salt is a colorless monoclinic plate crystal. Soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol. It has a wide range of antibacterial effects on mold, yeast and bacteria, and can be used for antiseptic effect in bread and cakes. The lower the pH value, the higher the antiseptic effect. Calcium propionate is almost non-toxic to humans. Used in cosmetics as a preservative, the maximum allowable concentration is 2% (calculated as propionic acid). Store in a dry and cool warehouse, and protect from rain and moisture during storage and transportation. Take propionic acid as raw material and neutralize it with calcium hydroxide.
Applications
As a mildew inhibitor for feed, it is mostly used as bait for aquatic animals such as protein feed, fish bait feed, and full-price feed. It is an ideal anti-mildew agent for various feed processing enterprises, scientific research and other animal feeds. In addition, in medicine, propionate can be made into powders, solutions and ointments to treat diseases caused by skin parasitic molds.
